INTRODUCTION TO THE BROOKLINE THRIVE GUIDE
The Brookline Thrive Guide is an easy-to-use, comprehensive list of local organizations and resources, useful to both service providers and Brookline residents who wish to find the right organization to help them with their needs quickly and easily. The Guide was developed through the efforts of Women and Girls Thriving in Brookline, a Collective Impact initiative. Our mission is to “Bring Brookline residents and organizations together to expand and create learning, participation, community, and leadership opportunities for financially-challenged women and girls, building on the resiliency and strengths of the whole community.”
Working across the town and consisting of over 50 organizations and 150 citizens, including more than 60 women with limited income, we are a project of the Brookline Community Mental Health Center funded by the Brookline Community Foundation (BCF) and the Hsiu-Lan Chang Fund for Single Mothers of the Brookline Community Foundation.
The idea of the Thrive Guide emerged from our 2014 needs assessment which determined that one of the greatest needs in Brookline was to find out and learn how to access available resources and information, both for Brookline women with limited incomes and for local service providers. The Guide is the result of these initial ideas, as well as the continuing hard work and guidance of the members of the Thriving Access and Information Sharing Working Group (see members below). Their work, including initial and expanded gathering and validating of resources, creation and editing the web resource, obtaining additional funding from a Brookline Community Foundation Spotlight Grant, is ongoing
